Lantern Parade Honoring St. Martin
Putting the KIND in ChristKINDlmarkt
Lantern parades are a rich German holiday tradition. Every year on November 11th, St. Martin’s Day, children parade with handmade lanterns to honor service and good works.
Christkindlmarkt SLC invites Utah families to join our lantern parade. Start a new tradition, serve others, and feel the magic of the season!
Come join the fun! To participate in the 2024 St. Martin’s parade, every participant needs to do the following:
Sign up by Tuesday, December 3rd using this google form.
Perform an act of service before the parade.
It can be big or small - be creative! Say “hello” to someone who looks lonely, shovel the sidewalk for a neighbor, or participate in a service project. The opportunities are endless!
Create or bring a lantern.
Bring one from home, make a traditional lantern (the internet has lots of tutorials!) or make something unique.
Dress festively.
This is a celebration! If you have a favorite holiday hat, red or green outerwear, or even something German, wear it!
Arrive at This is the Place Heritage Park no later than 4:00 pm on Thursday, December 5th for our 6:00 pm parade
(This will help you beat traffic, and you’ll have some time to see the market before the parade starts!) You will need to register to receive a specific meeting location.
